The first pill bottles I saved date back to 2017. At the time, I didn’t know what to do with them, but they reminded me of minimalist paintings, so I started collecting them. Prophylaxis. To be honest, even today I can’t quite explain my fascination with this type of painting. The canvases do something to the space around them, but I don’t know what. The forms are suggestive, but I don’t know of what. I even drew views of Ellsworth Kelly exhibitions, though I never understood why. As is.

 

This series of works has made me think about the things I can’t put into words, about the obsessions that endure and that I cherish deeply. But to break the repetition, I made a forest for the surrealists. It’s an emergency exit. As Is: The love for painting.
