IT'S TRUE... I DREAMT MYSELF!
 

The world seems to be filled with more nonsense than sense these days. Instead of zeroing in on a specific political issue, the exhibition is more about poking into the buzzing everyday reality. At first glance the sculptures might look like those flashy neon signs, logos, and company signage. But they're made of sturdy steel rods, bent by hand, welded, and varnished. They look all soft and light, but they don't glow like real neon signs. These sculptures, as well as the tufted wall hang carpets, are both tampering with and paying homage to art history and popular culture. Most of the works holds a humorous twist, with slightly unpleasant undertones. By playing around with familiar logos, symbols and puns, this is an honest attempt to open a wider space for thought and reflection.

 

“Sara Korshøj Christensen work exudes her joy of thinking deeply but sideways, her refusal to indulge in easy answers to the multiple pressing questions of our present time. Instead, it presents her playful mixed-media works and invites us to decipher the rigorously twisted meanings of quotidian images and political metaphors, and disturbing issues - such as domestic violence, ecologic crises, egomaniac ruthless leadership and our own consumerist self -indulgence.“
