BIO + CV

Chema Alvargonzalez was a multidisciplinary conceptual artist who lived and worked between Barcelona and Berlin.

He experienced the pivotal events surrounding the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the period that followed, and was involved with the Künstlerinitiative Tacheles.

He studied at the Hochschule der Künste (HdK) under the guidance of Rebecca Horn, obtaining a Master of Fine Arts and Multimedia degree in 1994.

After completing his studies, he produced the majority of his artistic work between Barcelona and Berlin.

During the periods in which he resided in Berlin, he introduced the city and the richness of its artistic landscape to many newly arrived artists.

In 2006, Alvargonzalez initiated the GlogauAIR project in the same building where he lived and worked, which continues to house an artist residency to this day.

Alvargonzalez is a representative of a generation of artists whose work was strongly influenced by globalization and technology.
